Short answer: a 3D printed name plate is a durable plastic plaque with lettering, printed to size for a door, letterbox, office or child’s room. In the name plate generator you type the text (up to 100 characters, accents included), choose one of 20 fonts or upload your own, the shape, edge and mounting, then check the 3D preview and order. The price comes from material and print time; a small PLA plate stays close to the €4 minimum.
Three tools for three kinds of sign
| Tool | For | What sets it apart |
|---|---|---|
| Name plate | door, letterbox, office, shelf | top / corner / side holes, raised, engraved or inlaid lettering |
| Name sign | nursery, newborn gift, monogram | a large initial in one font, the name in another, two colours in one piece |
| 3D text | name keychain, cake topper, wall word | keyring loop, hanging tab, cake sticks |
Which material for which plate?
- ASA for doors, letterboxes and gardens: UV-stable, does not fade or crack in frost.
- PLA for offices, kids’ rooms and gifts: cheapest, most colours, including silk and matte finishes.
- PETG for kitchens, bathrooms and workshops: more moisture- and heat-resistant than PLA.
Raised, engraved or inlaid lettering?
Raised lettering is the most legible and the cheapest. Engraved stays smooth to the touch and keeps at least 0.8 mm of backing. Inlaid lettering in a second colour prints in one piece with a filament change on a Bambu Lab printer – or download the separate-parts ZIP and glue the insert yourself. All three keep the base at least 1.6 mm thick and lettering at least 0.4 mm; letters that would be too thin are rejected by the generator.
How is it mounted?
For a door or letterbox choose corner holes (you set diameter and edge distance) with screws or double-sided tape. For a desk the simplest is a plate without holes on a stand or tape. For a bag, keys or a dog add a keyring loop in the 3D text generator. For a nursery the initial-and-name sign is the favourite – mounted with adhesive pads.
How much does a name plate cost?
Designing and downloading the model is free. When you click “Get a print quote”, the model goes through the same BambuStudio slicer as any uploaded file: the price comes from material use and print time, the minimum is €4 per model, and no VAT is added. Printing takes 1–3 working days; EU shipping starts at €13.90 and pickup in Slovenia is free. A 120 × 40 mm PLA plate weighs about 10 g and is the kind of part that sits at the minimum; a 150–200 mm two-colour name sign usually lands around €6–12. The quote shows the exact figure before you decide.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use accents and my own font?
Yes. All 20 built-in fonts support accented characters; upload your own font as TTF or OTF and it stays in your browser tab.
How big can a plate be?
Up to 220 × 220 mm in one piece. Longer text wraps onto up to five lines or splits into two parts.
How fast is it made?
Printing takes 1–3 working days; EU delivery adds 2–5 business days to neighbouring countries, typically 3–7 across the rest of the EU. Pickup in Slovenia is free.
Can I order several plates with different names?
Yes, design each one and add it to the same cart. Each plate with a different name is its own model with its own base fee; for several identical plates, set the quantity and the base fee is charged only once.
