Bambu Lab H2C Is Coming to Our Workshop: Purge-Free Multi-Material 3D Printing and Parts up to 320 mm

Short answer: in September 2026 a Bambu Lab H2C joins the P2S and P1S already running in our workshop. Three things change for your orders: bigger single-piece parts (305 × 320 × 325 mm instead of 256 × 256 × 256 mm), multi-colour and multi-material printing with no purge tower, and engineering materials in an actively heated chamber up to 65 °C. We are not taking the laser — we print, we don’t engrave or cut. Until it is installed, the instant quote keeps today’s limits: 256 mm and up to 4 colours.

What the H2C is, and what Vortek does

The H2C is a multi-material FDM printer built around Bambu Lab’s Vortek system: one fixed nozzle plus up to six swappable hotends. Each carries its own filament and heats inductively in eight seconds, so a change means swapping the hotend instead of pushing the old plastic out through one nozzle. The result: up to seven filaments in one print with no purge or flush cycle, and up to 24 filaments at once with AMS units.

Today it works differently here. The P2S and P1S have one nozzle and an AMS: every colour change forces the printer to flush the previous colour into a purge tower. On a four-colour model that waste can outweigh the part itself — which is why every extra colour costs €3.00 (see our pricing). Tom’s Hardware’s review puts the H2C at roughly 58 % less purge waste than an AMS-only setup.

Other manufacturer figures: nozzle sizes 0.2 / 0.4 / 0.6 / 0.8 mm, movement accuracy below 50 µm, extruder force up to 10 kg, heatbed up to 120 °C.

What changes for your order

1. Bigger parts in one piece

Today our largest single-piece part is 256 × 256 × 256 mm; bigger ones get split and assembled, which leaves a seam and adds labour. The H2C prints up to 305 × 320 × 325 mm on a single nozzle, 300 × 320 × 325 mm when both are in use, and 330 × 320 × 325 mm in total across the two. Almost 7 cm more height is the difference between “one part” and “three parts and glue” for enclosures, brackets and prototypes.

2. Multi-colour without a purge tower

Because Vortek swaps the whole hotend, the nozzle needs no cleaning on a change. Less waste also means a shorter print and less filament on the same model. Once the H2C is running here, we will measure the waste on our own orders and only then revisit the €3.00 per colour. We’re not promising a number — we’re promising a measurement.

3. Real supports in a second material

The supports your model needs are detected automatically in the quote and included in the price. Supports in the same material must be broken off and leave a mark. With a second hotend we will be able to print the support material separately from the model — soluble or break-away. That matters most on overhangs, internal channels and moving assemblies.

4. Engineering materials in a heated chamber

We already print ASA, PA6-GF and PAHT-CF (more here), but nylons and other technical materials want a warm, still environment. A heated chamber up to 65 °C and a 350 °C nozzle mean less warping and better layer bonding on tall, thin or large parts. The full range is on our materials page.

5. More capacity, more headroom

Three printers instead of two means one order can run while the next is prepared. Lead times stay the same — 1 to 3 working days — with more room for batches and urgent jobs. For repeat batches that is the most concrete change: 3D printing for business.

No laser — and why

The H2C is also sold in bundles with a laser module for engraving and cutting. We are not taking it. Our service is 3D printing. A laser is a different workshop — different safety equipment, extraction, materials and expertise. If you need engraving or laser cutting, we don’t offer it.

FAQ

Can I order a 300 mm part today?

Not yet. Until the H2C is installed, the instant quote prices against today’s limits — 256 × 256 × 256 mm in one piece and up to 4 colours. Planning a larger or multi-material part for the autumn? Write to us through the contact form and we’ll queue it.

Will multi-colour printing get cheaper?

We’ll measure first. The €3.00 per colour covers the plastic that ends up in the purge tower today. Once the H2C is printing our orders, we’ll measure the waste on real models and reconsider. Until we have our own numbers, we’re not promising one.

Which printer will print my order?

We choose it, based on part size, material and what is free. The quality presets are identical on all three, so the result is the same whichever runs the job.

Do delivery times change?

No. Production stays at 1 to 3 working days, we deliver across the EU, and pickup in Gorica pri Slivnici stays free. A third printer mainly buys headroom.
